Senior Product Designer

Easy Agile Career Description - Senior Product Designer

Remote (NSW) or in-person (Wollongong)  ·  Product  ·  Full time

We believe that for too long agile has become synonymous with the “doing” of ceremonies like sprint planning, retrospectives and daily huddles. We believe that being agile is a mindset and that true agility unlocks a team’s potential to be happier at work, more impactful with the solutions they’re building, and more focused on their customer’s success.

We believe being agile means:

  • trust in the team
  • innovation and creativity
  • curiosity and learning
  • living lean principles

That’s why our purpose is to help teams be agile.

We believe the way to achieve this is by educating, empowering and giving teams at all stages of agile maturity the tools, support and thought-leadership they need to succeed.

We’re a product and technology-led software company founded by two ex-Atlassian alumni in 2016 and we’ve been building from the bottom up ever since. We’re proud to call over 1,800 companies such as Netflix, Harvard, Adobe, Electronic Arts, Shopify, Lego, Mercedes and Twitter our customers.

Easy Agile has 4 products that are built on top of Atlassian’s flagship product Jira and sold via the Atlassian Marketplace. Every month, over 160,000 agile team members use our apps to help them deliver value to their customers.

Our products help teams at all stages of their agile journey; from just getting started at sprint planning and persona building, all the way through to enterprise and large scale, team of teams planning.

We’re a team of talented and curious ex-Atlassian’s, ex-Silicon Valley and agile enthusiasts, and we’re proud of our sustainable growth story. Our values are lived and breathed in everything that we do, and have become part of our everyday language.

We’ve made the coastal city of Wollongong, Australia our home and our beautiful new office is nestled between the mountains and the sea. We love our community and show our support through groups like Siligong Valley and our commitment to Pledge 1%.

About the role

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Product Designer to lead the design direction and UX strategy across our product suite. As our first product design hire, you’ll play a pivotal role in helping us build an environment where design can thrive.

You’ll carry out research, brainstorming, sketching, prototyping, and collaboration with product managers and developers to help our customers live up to our mission of being agile. We’ll lean on you to help us curate and scale our design process, grow our design team, foster team engagement with customer insights and most importantly ensure that we’re delivering solutions that solve real user problems in a delightful way.

More about you

  • 3-5+ years of professional UX/Product Design experience.
  • End-to-end design process skills and experience. From research, to journey maps, wireframes and prototypes - you’ve done it all.
  • Ability to balance vision with iteration, to make tradeoffs, and get the right user experience to market. We’re a small, growing agile team who require pragmatism over perfectionism.
  • Strong facilitation and cross-functional collaboration skills. You can demonstrate your ability to work across multiple teams, solicit and synthesise feedback, and facilitate design discussions and workshops.
  • Iterative design process. You’re constantly sketching, showing work in progress, validating with customers and data, iterating, shipping, learning, and growing. You aren’t precious about sharing ideas and work in progress.
  • Strong execution skills. You are a wizard when it comes to modern tools such as Figma, Sketch etc.
  • You’ve had experience leading a design team or are actively looking to take that next step in your career.

What you'll be doing

  • Help us to establish our design process and design system.
  • Lead the end-to-end design process. From research, to journey maps, wireframes and prototypes - you’ll help us find solutions to customer problems.
  • Take a holistic and collaborative approach. We know the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. You are highly collaborative and you work closely day-to-day with product and engineering. You understand the importance of bringing everyone on the journey and making sure we’re aligned to deliver the best possible solutions for our customers.
  • Help us scale. As our first product design hire, we want your help identifying our blindspots and opportunities for improvement. You’ll propose, test and implement improvements to our design process to ensure we’re punching above our weight.

Growth opportunities

  • Access to our founders Nick and Dave (ex-Atlassian, ex-Twitter) and their networks
  • We expect to grow and develop our product design team over the next 12 months. As our first product design hire, we’ll expect you to jump into the hiring process, helping us build a balanced and well-rounded team, set design vision and provide mentoring to junior team members.
  • Easy Agile was part of the founding group of local tech community, Siligong Valley. We regularly host and speak at meetups in our office and online from product management, to data and design.
  • The opportunity to build your profile as a designer by speaking at global events such as Atlassian Summit and the design conference of your dreams

We'll be excited if you have

  • B2B SaaS experience
  • Experience working with enterprise software
  • Hands on experience working in start/scale-ups
  • Understanding of/experience working with Atlassian’s product, Jira
